Laptop and Mac data recovery
A laptop that won’t switch on, a MacBook after a spilt drink, a computer stuck on the logo screen. Getting the files off is often possible even when the machine itself is beyond saving.
Windows laptops and desktops
Most Windows laptops have a removable hard drive or SSD. We take the drive out and recover from it directly, so a dead motherboard or broken screen doesn’t stand in the way. If the drive is protected with BitLocker, please have your recovery key ready (it’s usually saved in your Microsoft account).
MacBooks with soldered storage
On recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, including all Apple silicon Macs, storage is built into the logic board and encrypted by the Mac’s own chip. The data can only be read through that same board, so recovery means repairing the board enough to start it. Our engineers repair Apple logic boards in the same London lab.
Liquid damage
Switch it off, unplug it, and don’t try to charge it or dry it with heat. Corrosion keeps spreading after a spill, so the sooner the board is cleaned, the better the chance of getting the data back.
Repair as well as recovery
If you’d like the computer itself repaired once your files are safe, book a repair through our repair booking form and mention your recovery job number.
Passwords: to check recovered files, or to start a repaired machine, we may ask for your login password or PIN. It’s stored encrypted and deleted when your job is finished.
