Buffalo LinkStation & TeraStation recovery
Buffalo units use Linux RAID with XFS volumes, which recover well when the disks are imaged first.
What we recover
Buffalo units use Linux RAID with XFS volumes, which recover well when the disks are imaged first. Common cases are flashing red error codes, a failed array after a disk swap, and LinkStations that no longer appear on the network.
Models
LinkStation LS210D, LS220D, LS420D, LS520D, LS710D; TeraStation TS3210DN, TS3410DN, TS3420DN, TS5410DN, TS5810DN, and every other Buffalo model.
How we do it
We use PC-3000 systems from ACE Lab, the professional standard for data recovery labs. PC-3000 lets us repair a drive’s firmware through its service area, read damaged drives one head at a time, and copy weak drives slowly and safely without stressing them. Physical repairs such as replacing read/write heads are done in our clean room in central London, so the drive never leaves our lab.
Each disk is imaged with PC-3000 first; any failed disk is repaired in the clean room. The volume is then rebuilt from the copies, so your original disks are never written to.
Before you send it: power the unit down, don’t initialise, repair or re-create anything, and label each disk with its bay number.
