What usually goes wrong
The 7200.11 is known for a firmware fault that makes the drive vanish suddenly or show as "BSY", or report a size of 0 GB (the "LBA 0" fault). The data is normally still intact. We fix the firmware through the drive's service port with PC-3000; please don't try the do-it-yourself terminal fixes found online, which can make it worse.
If your ST3320613AS is clicking, beeping or not spinning, switch it off. Every restart can damage the platters further. Don’t open it and don’t run recovery software on it.
How we recover the ST3320613AS
We use PC-3000 systems from ACE Lab, the professional standard for data recovery labs. PC-3000 lets us repair a drive’s firmware through its service area, read damaged drives one head at a time, and copy weak drives slowly and safely without stressing them. Physical repairs such as replacing read/write heads are done in our clean room in central London, so the drive never leaves our lab.
We always work on a copy of the drive, never the original, and you get a list of recovered files to check before you pay for the recovery.
