What usually goes wrong

The 75GXP became known as the "Deathstar" for its failure rate: the magnetic coating could come away from the platters. Drives from this era need careful clean-room work and an IDE connection.

If your DTLA-307030 is clicking, beeping or not spinning, switch it off. Every restart can damage the platters further. Don’t open it and don’t run recovery software on it.

How we recover the DTLA-307030

We use PC-3000 systems from ACE Lab, the professional standard for data recovery labs. PC-3000 lets us repair a drive’s firmware through its service area, read damaged drives one head at a time, and copy weak drives slowly and safely without stressing them. Physical repairs such as replacing read/write heads are done in our clean room in central London, so the drive never leaves our lab.

We always work on a copy of the drive, never the original, and you get a list of recovered files to check before you pay for the recovery.
