What usually goes wrong
These slower, low-power drives were popular in early NAS boxes and external drives. We see firmware faults and read/write head failures most often.
If your ST1500DL003 is clicking, beeping or not spinning, switch it off. Every restart can damage the platters further. Don’t open it and don’t run recovery software on it.
