Netgear ReadyNAS recovery
ReadyNAS uses X-RAID (Netgear's expanding RAID) with Btrfs volumes, and older models used ext4.
What we recover
ReadyNAS uses X-RAID (Netgear's expanding RAID) with Btrfs volumes, and older models used ext4. We recover from "volume inactive", "remove inactive volumes" errors and failed expansions. Please don't press "remove inactive volumes"; it deletes the configuration we need.
Models
ReadyNAS RN102, RN104, RN212, RN214, RN314, RN316, RN426, RN524X, RN628X, and every other Netgear ReadyNAS model.
How we do it
We use PC-3000 systems from ACE Lab, the professional standard for data recovery labs. PC-3000 lets us repair a drive’s firmware through its service area, read damaged drives one head at a time, and copy weak drives slowly and safely without stressing them. Physical repairs such as replacing read/write heads are done in our clean room in central London, so the drive never leaves our lab.
Each disk is imaged with PC-3000 first; any failed disk is repaired in the clean room. The volume is then rebuilt from the copies, so your original disks are never written to.
Before you send it: power the unit down, don’t initialise, repair or re-create anything, and label each disk with its bay number.
